The Little Boy and the Dove - Page 1

By Tim Morse, M. Ed.

Once upon a time, there was a little boy who lived in a small town. The little boy was very, very, very sad.

He was feeling sad because his daddy had died a month ago. He knew that his daddy was gone and would never come back and play with him again. He knew that his daddy would never go out in the yard and play catch with him again. He knew that his daddy would never go to the fence in their yard and look at the boy’s rose bushes again and smell them. And the little boy missed his daddy, very, very, very much.

Every day after school, the little boy would go to the playground where he sat on the swing. He could almost still see his daddy coming over to give him a push. He could almost still hear his daddy call his name and he could almost still see the way his daddy used to smile in a wide smile and laugh when he gave the little boy a push.

One day, when the little boy was sitting on the swing, a beautiful dove came and sat on the big rock near the swings where the little boy sat.  The dove seemed to look at him, and the little boy thought that the dove could tell how he felt.
